The tradition of lighting the roadway to commemorate Christ's birth goes back to the 16th Century. While we no longer build bonfires of crisscrossed pinõn branches along the road, Troop 513 has been helping neighborhoods in and around the Stetson Hills area continue this tradition for many years in the Southwestern style of placing a candle in a paper bag and lighting it on Christmas Eve.

This festive project funds a great deal of our scouting activities throughout the year. Each kit that we build contains one dozen (12) luminarias! You may choose kits already assembled and ready to be placed and lit, or all the supplies you would need to assemble your own. Each includes a long burning votive candle in holder, white paper bag, plus sand to hold down the bag.

Each luminaria kit is hand prepared by a Scout!
